If you smell burning, see scorch marks around an outlet, or a breaker is hot to the touch, shut the circuit off at the panel and call us before you do anything else. Don’t reset it and wait.
A breaker that trips the moment you reset it is telling you something different from one that trips every third Thursday. A dead outlet on a wall where everything else works is a different problem from a whole room going out. We start by narrowing which of those it is, because that determines whether you’re looking at a twenty-minute fix or a rewire.
We test rather than guess. That means a meter on the circuit, a look inside the panel, and pulling the devices that are actually on the affected run. When we know what it is, you get a plain explanation and a written price. You decide from there there’s no pressure and no “while I’m here” list unless you ask for one.
A lot of what we find in Midtown, Saraland and the older West Mobile subdivisions traces back to the wiring itself rather than a single failed part. Aluminum branch circuits from the mid-1960s to mid-1970s, back-stabbed receptacles, and panels that have been added to for forty years all fail in predictable ways. If that’s what’s behind your symptom, we’ll say so rather than replacing one outlet and letting you find the next one in six weeks.

For the diagnostic, yes it’s $95 flat and it’s credited to the job. For the repair itself we won’t guess, because a dead outlet can be a $180 device replacement or the first sign of a failed run. You get the repair price in writing before we start.
That’s usually an overloaded circuit rather than a fault the breaker is doing its job. The fix is a dedicated circuit for the counter, not a bigger breaker. Never let anyone put a larger breaker on existing wiring to stop nuisance tripping.
No. Saturday mornings are the same rate as a weekday, by appointment. We don’t run a 24-hour emergency service, and we’d rather tell you that plainly than take the call and show up exhausted.
Only for work that genuinely can’t be quoted chasing an intermittent fault through an old house, for instance. That’s $115 an hour on residential work, and we agree it with you before we start. Everything that can be quoted flat, is.
That’s rare, but if we genuinely can’t locate a fault, you’ve paid the $95 and we’ll tell you what we ruled out and what we’d do next. We don’t bill for time spent going in circles.
