Semmes runs from properties that predate incorporation to subdivisions built in the last fifteen years, which means we see two very different sets of problems. The older places along Moffett Road and out toward Wilmer bring us fuse boxes, 100-amp services and ungrounded two-prong outlets. The newer builds bring us back-stabbed receptacles failing at the ten to twenty year mark and kitchens that were never given enough dedicated circuits.
A lot of properties out this way are on well and septic rather than city water and sewer, and that changes what an outage means. When the power goes, so does your water. It’s the single most common reason people here move a generator from “someday” to “this year,” and it also means the well pump circuit is worth getting right — it’s a hard-starting motor on a long run, often in a damp pit.

We do a fair amount of service entrance repair here between June and November.
