The established parts of Saraland and Satsuma have a heavy concentration of houses built between the late 1940s and the mid 1970s, which is the exact window that produces the two problems we’re called about most: knob-and-tube remnants in the oldest properties, and aluminum branch wiring across the 1965 to 1975 builds.
Neither is a reason to panic. Both have established, code-compliant remediation. What matters is having someone actually identify which one you have, because the fixes are different and the wrong one is worse than nothing.
Panel upgrades are the single most common job we do in this area. A large number of houses here are still on their original 100-amp service, or on a fuse box that’s been extended with a sub-panel at some point. Add central air and a modern kitchen to that and the service is carrying more than it was designed for.
