West Mobile is really two housing stocks wearing one name. The 1960s and 1970s subdivisions off Cottage Hill and Airport carry aluminum branch wiring and original 100-amp services. The 1990s-onward growth along Schillinger and out toward Snow Road has modern service sizes but was largely built with back-stabbed devices, which are now hitting the age where they fail.
Spring Hill is different again — larger older homes, frequently with additions and renovations layered over original wiring, and panels that have been extended repeatedly by whoever was cheapest at the time.
More than anywhere else we work, the calls here are about a house running out of room rather than something being broken. Central air, a home office, an induction range, a hot tub and now a car charger is a genuinely different load than these services were designed for. The answer is usually a load calculation and either a service upgrade or a smarter distribution of what’s already there — not simply a bigger breaker.

Enough of the Level 2 charger installs we’re called to look at were done without a load calculation that we now insist on doing one first, and we’ve turned up more than one 60-amp circuit landed on a service that couldn’t support it. Standby generators are common in Spring Hill in particular, where the tree cover that makes the neighborhood lovely also drops limbs on service drops every hurricane season.
Airport Boulevard between four and six is real, and we plan around it rather than pretending otherwise. If your window is late afternoon, we’ll tell you the truth about it when we book.
Often yes, but not always at full charge rate on the original service. We do a load calculation first. Where the service is tight, a load management device or a lower charge rate usually solves it for far less than a service upgrade.
